Since joining Kitahama Partners, Maria Yaka has been involved in various kinds of domestic litigation (for example, a lawsuit for the eviction of a tenant from a building, a case concerning product liability, and a case relating to the return of deposit) and corporate legal affairs in a wide range of fields (namely the review of contract and terms of use, M&A transactions, labor cases, fraud investigations, and IP-related matters).

She also handles a number of international matters, making use of her experience as a returnee to Japan from England.  Among the recent cases she has handled, an employment-related consultation for a Japanese subsidiary of a foreign corporation and the case of a fraud investigation of an overseas subsidiary of a Japanese corporation, in particular, demonstrated her ability and fitness for international matters. Cooperating closely and liaising with overseas law firms, she endeavors to provide her clients with more in-depth advice and real-world practical solutions.

Ms. Yaka has devoted herself to becoming an attorney whose name comes to mind of client’s when they take on new business challenges or when they seek legal assistance and help.
