In Japan, on occasions ranging from everyday life to entering into important written agreements, it is common not to write a signature but to affix a seal. Likewise, it is necessary to attach revenue stamps to certain types of contracts.
Because this kind of practice is something unique to Japan, it is something with which foreigners, including Germans, are not very familiar. In this seminar, while also mixing in Japanese history, these types of Japanese unique practices and points to keep in mind were introduced in English.
