International transactions carry with them the danger of international disputes, making it necessary to balance the need to prevent disputes (or when disputes arise, to resolve them in economically reasonable fashion to keep them from getting out of hand) against the need to fight tenaciously for one’s interests.
In addition to being active on a daily basis providing representation in domestic disputes involving Japanese corporations and overseas corporations, our firm was one of the first to handle and represent clients in international arbitration and international mediation cases, which thus far have not occurred on a wide scale in Japan. We also have a strong track record in securing appointment as arbitrators and obtaining mediator certification, and have expansive knowledge and experience related to dispute resolution bodies in many countries.
