Overview
Takayuki Sato handles matters relating to intellectual property, IT system development, mergers & acquisitions, bankruptcy, and general corporate matters. In particular, he focuses on legal disputes and has a broad range of experience with respect to disputes concerning business-to-business transactions, IT system development, infringement of intellectual property rights (patents, designs, and trademarks), violation of the Unfair Competition Prevention Law, administrative litigation, and suits against governmental entities (on the administrative side).
For Mr. Sato, resolving disputes is a lawyer’s greatest strength. For example, in a case involving the unlawful disclosure of corporate information, despite the fact there was no available precedent, Mr. Sato successfully obtained criminal charges and a public trial on behalf of the client. In another case regarding a lawsuit concerning an IT system development agreement, where interpretation of the contract was at issue, Mr. Sato successfully reached a settlement on behalf of the client by asserting arguments based on the facts of the case, including the actual state of the development. In both cases, he achieved these results by working closely with his clients. Mr. Sato’s strength lies not only in his knowledge and broad experience as an attorney, but also in his ability to find the best solutions by thinking outside the box, while closely understanding the client’s needs and the realities of their disputes.
The fields of intellectual property, information technology, and system development require both legal knowledge and an understanding of technology and, taking advantage of his knowledge and experience as a lawyer, Mr. Sato helps clients protect and utilize their intellectual property and technology and resolve their disputes.
