Overview
Mr. Yasuda has dealt with virtually every aspect of corporate law on behalf of corporate clients in a wide array of industries, ranging from small and medium-sized firms to listed companies, focusing primarily on corporate litigation and M&A. He also has expertise in handling cases relating to new fields, such as assisting clients with starting completely new businesses in response to changes in the law.
Furthermore, based upon his experience in the examination and hearing of appeals when he worked at the final decision-making institution within Japan’s national tax organization (Tokyo National Tax Tribunal) for three years beginning in 2016, he is able to offer advice based upon the most recent tax disputes as well as the perspectives of National Tax Agency personnel in cases involving issues related to various aspects of tax law, such as the following:
- International Tax (tax haven counter-measures, transfer pricing regulations, etc.)
- Consumption Tax (taxation of a wide variety of export transactions, tax processes for reward points, etc.)
- Corporate Tax (waiver and assignment of claims, taxation of debt equity swaps, rejection of acts or calculations pertaining to organizational restructuring, taxation of discounted issue, etc.)
- Withholding Tax (presence and subject of liability for withholding tax, timing of withholding, etc.)
- Income Tax (taxation of financial products, etc.)
- Heavy Additional Tax, including audit-related cases
