Profile
After having served as a judge (presided over civil and criminal cases in the Kobe District Court and Tokyo District Court), Tatsuo Ikeda has come to focus on researching and teaching procedural law and other subjects, including the Code of Civil Procedure, in law schools and other academic institutions. He has been a scholar of Alexander von Humboldt and a Research Fellow at the University of Freiburg in Germany. He has also conducted research in various countries in Europe and Asia, and made comprehensive oral presentations at international conferences and other venues. As part of his pro bono activities, he serves as a member of the Committee for Conciliation of Civil Affairs, the Chairman of Councils in municipal governments, and also as an outside auditor of corporation.
Mr. Ikeda specializes in international legal matters ranging from civil and commercial cases to family law-related cases, as well as administrative law cases in Japan, Europe and Asia. Utilizing his skills with respect to litigation and as an ADR Specialist, he makes use of a variety of networks and does his utmost to achieve an optimum resolution in each of the cases he handles. Mr. Ikeda is an advocate for human rights and devotes every effort to realize social justice.
