Overview

Yoshimasa Kakudo’s main areas of practice are financial regulations (with a focus on the Banking Act and the Payment Services Act) and financial compliance.
Having been engaged in carrying out important inspections in respect to compliance violations at a regional bank, ‘Shinkin Bank’, a major life insurance company, etc. and the monitoring of a regional banking group, in the form of holding company, during his service at the Financial Services Agency, he has extensive knowledge in regard to the governance of financial institutions, compliance risk management (including responses to money laundering and antisocial forces), and the measures in responding to financial scandals. He is also well versed in fund settlement operations as he was in charge of supervising fintech companies such as Funds Transfer Service Providers and examining the approvals of Type I Funds transfer services at the FinTech Business Monitoring Office of the Financial Services Agency.

In addition to the foregoing, Mr. Kakudo had already acquired a rich knowledge of and in-depth experience in handling M&A transactions, labor law-related matters, and finance-related matters, such as the formation of investment limited partnerships, prior to his appointment as a Fixed-Term Official to the Financial Services Agency, which makes him a truly well versed legal professional.
