Jun Kawanami’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and dispute resolution (including domestic litigation and international arbitration, mediation and negotiation). In addition, he assists clients with a wide range of corporate legal matters (corporate law matters, labor issues, compliance, risk management and venture support) as well as general civil cases. In recent years, Mr. Kawanami has handled a number of international cases in which Japanese companies have expanded into Southeast Asia, including the Philippines and other developing nations. Some of the related issues in connection with which he has assisted clients are the acquisition of local businesses, dealing with legal disputes after such expansion, and conducting cross-border commercial transactions. Mr. Kawanami’s practice covers a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, medical, education, finance and services. Moreover, making use of his experience of having been seconded to a major private corporation, Mr. Kawanami endeavors at all times to provide trustworthy advice from the client’s perspective.
